For years and years it has been our family tradition to go camping at the coast for 4-6 days. In order for anyone to be able to do this you have to make reservations like a year in advance-which we did. We know that the Oregon coast has lots of rain-but believe it or not it can have days where it is just overcast, or a few small showers and sometimes even sun. We were thrilled to have a little sunshine on our first day of vacation but by the second day after continual rain we decided camping in the rain-even in a camper STINKS. We enjoyed our first day playing at the beach and the second day we went agate hunting but by 5pm with nothing but kids fighting going on and us all stuck in the camper we decided it was time to go east and call it quits for the rest of the weekend. From now on we either wait until mid august or we just hang our hats up and say too bad.![]()
Rylan collected a bag of beautiful agates that we eventually gave to Grandpa Torrey-who collects them for his fish pond. The girls hiked up the trail and came to a rest spot. Then as silly as they are they decided they would be statues-they stayed nice and stiff for quite some time. Good job girls-too bad you couldn't do that in the camper.
Yes we are all rocking our outfits and having a grand ol' time getting back aches as we lean over to get our treasures.
There has to be something great in here-I know there is. Our agates this year were much smaller than last year but they were still fun to find. I now know why the gold seekers couldn't help themselves as they panned gold-its' exhausting but fun. Too bad ours' aren't worth anything.
Saige found the best way to stay dry near the ocean waters.
For a little bit it was great fun to watch the girls play in and around the ocean waters. Ambria hugged on her little sister to keep her warm, while Saige tried a variety of balancing acts on the shovels.
THIS is a beautiful wonderful sight. Big sisters are the best.
Saige was so excited because she found a star fish on the shore. I told her that when we were little kids we would collect them off the rocks (before they made ocean animal rules) and put them in 5 gallon buckets to take home. They weren't so cool when they died and started to stink though.
It was a beautiful day at the ocean I must admit-Too bad they all didn't follow suit and that the 5 day forecast called for 80% showers the entire time.
Being a mom can be a fun job too-I am so glad I have this little kid to help me be little.
Although we packed it up-we really do love camping-maybe we are just fair weather campers or just Good weather campers.
I think these 2 are going just about as far as they can go-YES SIR. "They've gone about as fur as they can go." just throwing in a little Oklahoma musical music for ya.
