The winter really started out pretty calm, in fact it was even really pretty dry, just cold. Then in January we did finally get one big snow storm that dumped a lot of snow fast and then we had heavy freezing rain. The kids were out of school for almost a week and most people in the Gorge were without power for a week or more. Luckily we had our power the entire time and the kids took advantage of the time off. Since I work at home, of course I didn't' get any time off but it was kind of slow. If the kids weren't shoveling, or sledding they were out making the coolest snow forts ever. When the snow plow comes through the facility and makes big mounds of snow in the corner the girls dig holes and tunnels through the snow making them into quite impressive forts. In fact they had a toilet with a handle to flush, a swimming pool, 3 bedrooms, living room, (2 of the bedrooms had slides to get in) and of course stairs. They always take us through tours to show off their imaginative ideas. Sadly pictures of them don't turn out.
