Rylan was having so much fun at Saige's Birthday party. As the Party began, Rylan was the "it" in tag. Hopping from bar to bar on the monkey bars turned into a disaster for her. All the girls from the party came in worried and letting us know what had happened, "she went to grab a bar and fell on the ground-it looked like it hurt". Landing right on her wrist Rylan was in hysterical tears. After calming her down and getting ice on her arm we had her perform different tasks to see if indeed her wrist was broken. Later on we compared arms and decided yes it was indeed broke. Unfortunately it was a Friday night so we couldn't do a heck of a lot. Mark took her to the ER to get some love and get taken care of.
Oh Thank you Doctor.
After only one hour in the ER Rylan came home with a splint, and a sling-of course a broken wrist. It turned out to be a compression break.
Even though she has a splint she can still pose with the best of them.
After one week Rylan was finally able to go in for a cast (the swelling went down). Oh boy was she excited. It was the Christmas morning giddiness.
We live in a small town and they haven't upgraded to get colored casts (she was counting on a pink one.) So we had to come up with an alternate plan and this is what it was.
Spray paint (pink)After the first stinky smell from the over powering fumes, it turned out to work ok.
We now have a pink cast. We have a cute cast cover coming also that has a bunch of butterflies. We also had to spend a few dollars to get a waterproof cast cover so Rylan can go swimming and all the wet rides while we are on vacation in California. What an experience-First arm break out of the kids.
