Labor day fun #1

We celebrated Labor day a little different this year. A group of friends from church got together and we headed up to Camp Meriweather on the Oregon Coast. This is normally a boy scout camp but for the holidays they lend it out to families for a family group weekend. If you pay a little bit more they even make all your meals for you. That's right, you don't have to camp while cooking-ya know I was a sucker for that one.

For Breakfast, lunch, and dinner we would head to the main lodge and eat our fair share. As adults we tended to get lazy around this time and we would just sit for a spell while the kid ran around in the front yard area.

The walk or I should say the HIKE down to the beach was quite a doozy so we tried to make that as little as possible. Well ok it just happened that we only made it down to this beach one day. Once there we tried to keep the kids there as long as possible. The weather was fantastic and my husband was even quite kind to come give me a quick back rub. Actually my husband is always kind and does it on the spur of the moment or whenever I ask, AHHHH SIGH SIGH.

 The kids were in the freezing ice cubes, they call an ocean the moment they were down at the beach. Saige and Bree A. hung out together finding different adventures in the sand.

 Ambria was trying to prove that she was taller than her dad, and for just this moment she was-he was sinking in the wet sand.

 All the little ones love to buried, so the kids and some parents worked together to stick them in there own holes.  Nothing like a bunch of heads popping out of the sand to give you a good laugh.  Later that day we were told about some awesome sledding adventures at Cape Kiwanda. As fools we all went along with it and headed south for the rest of the day.

 The hill itself looks quite small from this perspective but believe me it was almost like climbing Mt. Hood, or so it felt. I think you were almost vertical at some points.

 Of course as always the view at the top was really worth it- see even the little kids were struggling to get up this thing.

 Kalvin and Saige decided they were going to give it a go down the hill on their sleds. For the most part we had to almost work harder to get our sleds to go down the hill then walking up the hill. The sand was too dry so it wasn't great sledding conditions but we still heaved ourselves down a little bit or I should say scooted ourselves down a little bit.

 A tree full of girls. That's the kind of tree I like to grow.

 Yes we made it, aren't we quite amazing????

 This was a planking joke, for another friend whom always takes planking photos. We decided it would just be quite amazing (ha). The little kids thought the adults were on to something and joined in on the fun.

 At night the kids told stories, sang songs, ate marshmallows and smores while we all visited.

 It is so great to have friends with great values and great humor to go spend a weekend with. We came back with so many funny stories and a lifetime of memories.
