Labor day fun #2

Among all the fun things that the kids could do, Salamander catching had to be pretty high on the list. I can't even recall the final count of what the kids caught but that green bucket was nice and full.
Trying to teach our kids at an early age-the NRA would be so proud.
For the last evening at camp, many of the families will get together and perform a skit. For the skit this year the kids decided to do a song called , "please don't pee in the pool." It turned out pretty fantastic and so if you ever want to see it, just you tube it. One of the councilors joined in on the guitar for the kids.
While the kids were practicing us mommies tried to get some shut eye-ok the sun just felt amazing and we were tired.
This was the actual performance. Little Trek did great sitting in the front boat and Kyle stole the show with repeating the words. The crazy thing is that he didn't even practice it that way.
This is us with our hillbilly cabins. I mean we are talking RED neck all the way. I would call this a negative 5 star rating.

I love my family. It was weird to have the oldest kid there-what does this mean?? I guess we are getting older.
All the kids right before we left the crazy camp.

These were the families that came with us-The McCarthy's, The Youngs, The Weiseths and The Albistons. What a fabo group of people. There was not one dull moment and everybody had a blast. Here's to the next holiday.
So the next pictures are more memory pictures or ones I forgot to get on here. The picture below is Amy and Rylan on the top of cape Kiwanda-see it was high.
Almost all the kids on the tree at the top of Cape Kiwanda.
All weekend we were bugged by these little Skrats- Squirrel/rat. It likes to take things, like a pack rat and store it away. The first night we had some scary moments with it crawling over a few peoples sleeping bags (along with the bats swooping through the open triangles at the top). After the first night I didn't have any food missing only some toilet paper that was munched on-wierdo. The next night I put shoes over every floor hole and tried to put as much away as possible but you could still here their scurrying feet. Nothing kept those things out. Tabitha and Teg turned on their flashlight just in time to see the little guy with his beady eyes over their head on the beam of the cabin. After Teg took a few wacks (ok a lot) the creature scared to death went into the wall (well the hole). So the next morning the guys decided to take it upon themselves to get this thing once and for all. That creature was so fast and smart that it outwitted everyone of those men and ended up escaping after an hour of fun entertainment. The men were hilarious letting off a few MAN screams and giving us a great TV show to watch. Debbie even bought mouse traps and that Skratt would eat everything off of it and not even get touched. What a fun, crazy event. I think Teg did scare the one away at least for the last few hours of our camping evening.
The older girls went and did some archery.
Look at that hand full of Salamanders GROSS!!!!!!!!
Launching water balloons up to Kara and her tree cabin.
Kara tempting fate on her porch-having no problems with water balloons flying all around.
Now a little time for some SURVIVOR. We did a small version of survivor with the kids.  The little ones were crying within the first 30 seconds-one couldn't get over a log, one got rope burns on his hand and one got knocked over from another person running. Well it was a fun thought and good while it lasted. I guess we almost survived just the little ones didn't.

This competition was the best. The teammates had to lead their team to find 3 cups out on these trails. They could only lead them, not touch them. Alexa ended up having to run from her captains instructions (nothing like running blindfolded) and Shane was led astray a few times into some bushes. The entertainment for those on shore was quite a hoot and I think Kara almost needed a diaper.
Since the weekend was over and we wanted to break all the rules we crammed into the McCarthy's van and went and checked out other camp sites for next year. Yes this is how we drove around-got a problem with it? Viking camp spot had every creature visit us, we had to hike up a hill any time we needed to use the restroom, car, activity or wanted to eat. We were as far away from the ocean as possible and our cabins were not the greatest. However stating all those negatives really makes it sound rough. It was as rough as camping gets but the adventure was worth it. We had great memories that we will never forget and we learned a lot, never choose this site again.
